Zayah’s Revenge
A story by Neal Weldon
Prologue
"Big Brother?" 9-year-old steph said in a little sick kid tone.
"Yes, Steph?" Zayah said starting to cry. Steph coughed up
blood. "I’m sry...."
Today was the big day, the day that the older children can finally come to age and get their first weapons of war.
"Zayah!" Ash called laughing and knocking on his window. "Hold your arrows, I'm coming!" He answered pulling up his pants. Ash giggled. "We are going to be late!" She said said knocking again. Zayah opened the door fully equipped and rubbed the crust from his eyes. "We still have until the sun is above the great oak tree..." He complained walking towards her.
They had no Idea what would happen.... no one did.
Zayah snapped his old oak bow in half. "I can't wait to get a real bow." He said throwing it by the firewood. "I'm not throwing my lance away just yet!" Ash said giggling again and spinning it around. "Why not?" Zayah said yawning and walking along side her to the tree. "Because, well.... it’s my friend!" she said holding it in front of her eyes. "Ash...I need to tell you something..." zayah said in a serious tone.
Then in one instant their whole world changed.
"Their coming!" A villager said screaming as he enters the town. ".........Help" he said getting shot with an icy blast completely freezing him followed by an arrow that shattered him.
Chapter one:
The point of no return.
From that point on all you could hear were the blood lust roars of the intruders and the cries of help the villagers murmured in their last moments of life. They killed all in sight, leaving every house bare and the streets bloodstained. Zayah heard it all and knew that it was the point of no return.
"Come on!" Zayah shouted quickly and grabbed Ashes arm. She resisted and escaped his grip "We have to split up!" she said with a concerned look on her beautiful face. "But...." Zayah argued, worried by the possible outcome. Ashe frowned and looked down on the ground. They sat there in silence. Time had moved so slow it seemed like time had completely stopped, until Zayah finally said, "Alright but let's meet back by the oak tree later." "Alright" She responded kissing him on the cheek and running off. Zayah stood there for a moment again seemingly frozen in time until a battle cry of a creature woke him. The creature was dog-like with his nose and ears. But its red eyes seemed to have captured countless innocent souls. He stood upon two legs like a human but his heard was for sure a heard of a savage beast.
"I will not let you take any more lives you barbaric beast!" He called drawing a short thin dagger. The beast screeched in an unknown language but it sounded like nails on a chalkboard. Zayah Clenched his fist then relaxed creating a fireball in his left hand. He remembered his teacher telling him that magic was based on emotions and if you cannot express them, then you cannot possibly cast a spell worth the energy. Thoughts of anger, his past and his possibly ruined future rushed through his head, making the fire in his eyes along with the fireball in his hand grow in strength.
Zayah released the fireball, which was now the size of a basketball directly into the monster's face covering it in third degree burns, then quickly threw his dagger into the creature's foul heart.
Zayah panted with anger and charged through the town slitting the throats of the bastards that decided to raid this small and helpless town, or so they thought. Zayah rushed by one quickly stabbing it i n the heart, and he continued running, and running and running aimlessly killing every foul creature in sight. Then he came along a small nearly dead body. It was his sister's. He stopped, still panting with fatigue. He picked her up and looked into her dark silver eyes. "Big brother?" 9-year-old steph said quietly in a Little kid tone. "Yes, steph?" Zayah responded starting to cry. She coughed up some more blood. "I'm sry,” she said in her final breath, before her heart stopped beating. "I'm sry..." Those words kept repeating in his head until they finally stopped, and he started to bawl.
Enjoy! ;D ;D
