Yay! My 1st Fanfic. This probably isn't going to be that good, but bear with me. My Fanfic series is titled: StarFox: The Battle of Lylat, and is a battle by battle story of Starfox 64. It puts the background into the individual levels of SF64.
The characters in this FanFic that are obviously not mine include: StarFox Team, StarWolf team, Andross, Gen. Pepper, Katt Monroe, Bill Grey, etc. They are property of Nintendo as are the planets on which the battles take place. I don't think that I'll be able to indent, so reading it will be strange.
Also, this story will have a distinct military feel to it. I love studying war, and the battle plans involved in the waging of it, so you'll see a lot of tactics and stratgies involved. I may even place portions of historic battles in too.
My characters are Admiral Kaita and Lt. Col. Greg Mathel. Thus far I only have two, but it's growing. If you want to use these characters, just ask. I'll prolly let you use 'em. Now for the fun:

Star Fox: The Battle of Lylat A Battle by Battle Series of the SF64 Storyline Episode One: Siege of Corneria “Revenge…Complete revenge for suppressing my great scientific prowess. That is what I desire.” -Andross, Emperor of Venom Chapter 1 2300 hours, local time, Meteo As the Venomian carrier VSS Chaotix entered the uncontrolled airspace at the edge of the Meteo Asteroid Belt, its captain reviewed his orders from Venom High Command. Admiral Vince Kaita was commanding officer of the Chaotix. The middle-aged ape had been in Andross’ Space Navy since the emperor first rose to power. Like Andross, Adm. Kaita had been double crossed by Corneria. He went through the Cornerian Military Academy and seemed to be a promising naval officer. But after two years in the Cornerian Space Navy, he was suddenly discharged. The only reason he could get out of his superiors was that he was too “psychologically unstable” to pursue a military career. He now had a chance at true success in the Venomian Space Navy. Andross understood him, and identified with the admiral’s hate of Corneria for ruining his career. Now Adm. Kaita was supreme commander of the Venomian Space Navy’s part in the new war. Andross had been planning this strike for many years now, ever since he was first banished to Venom. Over the course of these years, Andross had built an empire from nothing. He had a massive military and the means to attack anywhere in the Lylat System. He had bases on Titania, Macbeth, and Zoness. He had a system of defenses in Sectors X and Z, Area 6 and Bloise. Andross even went as far as placing biologically enhanced weapons on the uninhabitable planets of Solar and Aquas. Calling the emperor dangerous was an understatement. Unbeknownst to all allied planets, Venom had landed Troops on all planets not directly under Cornerian control. Included in this group were Fortuna, Sector X, and Meteo. These places would prove to be pivotal battle grounds later in this saga. On the Chaotix, tensions were high, as the crew, which was the best Venom had to offer, all knew what their objective was. Andross had given them a direct order to make first offensive contact with the Cornerians. The carrier was chosen to lead the invasion of Corneria because of its elite crew, enhanced capabilities, and most importantly, its captain; a personal friend of Andross. Loaded on the Chaotix, a Super-Heavy Class Carrier, were twenty squadrons of Invader II fighters, each squadron containing seven individual aircraft, ten bomber squadrons, five heavy transport squadrons, and countless boarding pods, landing craft, and light transport shuttles. And that’s just the aircraft. The ship also carried two divisions of the Venomian Army. Well over 50,000 men, or enough to lay siege to any city successfully. The Chaotix had more carrying capacity than any other known spacecraft on either side. Admiral Kaita again looked over his battle plan. His strategy was to capture the capital city of Corneria, Corneria City first, and then the rest of the planet would fall…or so he thought. But Admiral Kaita had forgotten one of the basic rules of warfare: never underestimate your enemy. The Cornerian people had this nasty little habit of not backing down from a fight, especially if their homeland’s survival depended on it. “Ah. 2315 hours. We should go ahead and send in our status and position to high command,” said Kaita to no one in particular. “They shouldn’t mind us reporting in early.” There were few experienced personnel on the bridge at that hour, so Kaita got the first person he saw to perform the duty. “On it, sir!” Reported the young, yet ambitious mouse assigned the job. After a few minutes of gathering coordinates, the mouse relayed the ship’s position to Venom HQ. However, he neglected to completely encode the message, allowing the transmission to be received by other sorces. This mistake would prove fatal to the Venomian assault on Corneria. ~~~~~~ 2321, local time, Cornerian Defense Ministry A radio echo bounced through the asteroids of Meteo. It originated from the Venomian Carrier VSS Chaotix. An old Cornerian spy probe, long forgotten, picked up the echo by chance, and transmitted it to the Cornerian Defense Ministry. The old bulldog working the spy probe station in the ministry building dismissed the transmission at first, considering it an annoyance to his sleep. Ever since getting the graveyard shift at the boring probe console, the canine had not encountered a problem catching a few winks. No one seemed to care. Besides, it was a rare occasion when any of his probes reported an important item. Just as he started to doze, something caught his eye. The Venomian Seal was on the transmission. Upon further inspection, the message contained the whereabouts, status, and most importantly, the intent of the Venomian warship! The old dog created quite a ruckus trying to alert his co-workers and superiors of the news, but they dismissed it, for they knew of the dog’s sleeping habits, and assumed that he was dreaming. None the less, his superior looked into it, not expecting much. When he saw the entire Venomian battle plan, the dog’s boss wasted no time in alerting Cornerian High Command of the imminent threat. Corneria was in grave danger. ~~~~~~ 0055, local time, Cornerian Military Headquarters “What!” Exclaimed the hound dog, who wore four stars on his shoulders, “ They have a force of that size at our back door, and we’re just finding out about it! Blast!” The grizzled hound dog was none other than General Pepper, the Commander in Chief of the Cornerian Military. He had just heard the news of the Venomian presence, and was none too happy at the situation. “Sir, the Venomian warship may be alone. You must consider your options,” reasoned Lt. Colonel Greg Mathel, a young hotshot badger, the General’s personal aid. “Options? What options? We have a dire threat to our planet, which may be launched at any moment! None of our interceptor fighter squadrons are online, nor will they be in any less than a week. The majority of our Air Force is at the Katina base complex. We won’t be ready for combat for another two weeks. Face it. We are defenseless,” stated Pepper. “Sir, what can we do?” “I have no idea, Greg. No idea.”

“Operative Fighter Squadrons: Zero. Operative Anti-Air Squads: Zero. Soldiers on Ground: One division. Communications: Down. Chance of Victory: Highly Unlikely” -Computer Assessment of Corneria City Defenses during Venomian Siege
Chapter 2 0500 hours, local time, VSS Chaotix “Men, the day of reckoning is here. We are in orbit over the capital of the enemy’s home world. Today, we attack in the name of the Great Venomian Empire and cripple the Cornerian people’s will to resist. Today shall mark the beginning of the end of the Cornerian people!” Admiral Kaita spoke. A loud cry rose from the crowd of the Chaotix’s crew of Venomian soldiers and airmen who would be launching the first attack on Corneria in a matter of hours. Soon, if all went well, the people of Corneria would be begging for mercy. “Now,” Kaita ordered, “soldiers, board your transports. Airmen, get in your fighters, bombers, and shuttles. Crew, report to your stations. We attack at dawn!” The crowd dispersed, as the hangars and launch bays filled with eager soldiers, ready to bring destruction to the enemy. Pilots got into their fighters and squadron leaders went over strategies and tactics. Engines hummed as ships awaited the order to depart. In their own personal hangar, the second best fighter squadron in all of Venom was gearing up for war. Chaos squadron, second only to Star Wolf, was the most experienced and deadly enlisted Venomian squadron. Led by Shadow Rolfe, a black hedgehog, Chaos squad had only four members. The others were Rouge Vernn, a young female ocelot, the highest ranking female Venomian pilot; Espio Nage, a red chameleon and deadly spy; and Miles Prower, a fox and natural pilot. Chaos Squadron was deadly not only because of its pilot’s skill and their modified Invader Mk IVs. They used a special technique that no other pilots could mimic. Their Invaders had been modified by putting extra G-Diffuser systems in, and thus had enhanced barrel roll capabilities. It was these barrel rolls that gave Chaos Squad their edge; each time a Chaos fighter barrel rolled, the plane went completely invisible to sight, radar, sonar, laser, and anything else for a sew seconds. The disappearance was caused by a special crystal deep inside the main G-Diffuser. As such, the squadron’s symbol was a crystal shape. “Our mission is to provide cover for every bomber squadron going in today,” said Shadow. “That’s a lot of aircraft. Ten squadrons, or 70 huge planes to be exact. However, I somehow doubt that we will have much resistance. I did some research myself, and most of Corneria’s Air Force and Space Naval fighters are on Katina. This should be a cake walk. Let’s get ready. In your fighters!” As Chaos squadron was boarding their fighters, the order for bombers to launch was already sent. Some fighters were launching too. Within fifteen minutes, all aircraft in the first wave were in the air and en route to the target. The transports were waiting for the first wave to suppress the enemy’s ground defenses before they dropped the soldiers in. All transports were scheduled for launch in the second wave or later.
~~~~~~ 0520 hours, local time, Corneria City Corneria High Command (CHC) was a buzz of activity after the first radar sighting of the fighters and bombers leaving the carrier VSS Chaotix. Gen. Pepper was constantly issuing orders and setting up defenses. He had already deployed every single unit in the Cornerian Militia, the auxiliary Cornerian Army. It amounted to a single division, but it was better than nothing. “Sir, the first Venomian wave’s strike is getting closer. ETA is thirteen minutes. I suggest all personnel be moved to underground bunker immediately!” said a CHC defense analyst. The general didn’t respond. He was too busy thinking of how he could solve the problem of their lack of air defense. He didn’t have to think long. Greg came through with a suggestion that would turn the tide of the whole war. “General, perhaps we could hire help,” stated Greg. “What are you talking about?” asked the bewildered hound. “A mercenary unit. One loyal to Corneria of course.” “That would work, but they couldn’t get here in time.” “Not in time for the first wave, but they could head off the second wave.” “So we’d have to sit and endure the first wave, then?” “We have to do that no matter what.” “So it’s decided, then. We call Star Fox.” With that, the General got on the AV link to the Great Fox, a move that would open up the road to the destruction of the Venomian Empire. But it didn’t look like it at the time.
~~~~~~
0522 hours, local time, Great Fox in Sector Y airspace The great Star Fox team, heroes of Lylat in a past day, was currently asleep. That is, they were asleep until the shrill chirp of the AV link woke up the whole team. “Zzzzzz…What the heck is that!?!” hollered a disgruntled Falco Lombardi. He was having sweet dreams of his Play Bird magazine. “Who wants to get in topuch with us at this hour?” Asked Fox McCloud, son of Lylat’s greatest pilot and leader of Star Fox, to no one in particular. The continuous chirping roused the rest of the team, Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare. Slippy was the team mechanic, but not the best pilot. Peppy was a member of the original Star Fox team, and acts as the team’s advisor, but he still flies with the team. After all were assembled, Rob64, the team robot answered the call. All sleepiness left in the team disappeared when they say the face of General Pepper. Before Fox could say anything, the General began speaking: “We need your help, Star Fox! Andross has declared war! He’s invaded the Lylat System, and is trying to take over Corneria! Our Army alone can’t do the job. Hurry, Star Fox!”

Sorry, you don't have a cameo, but I named a whole squadron after "chaos." The main ship is called the "Chaotix", and the members of Chaos squadron all have sonic characters first names. Their special tactic also mimics the action of Chaos control. You'll get it if you read it.

“That monstrosity killed my father. Now it is time to return the favor.” -Fox McCloud, referring to Andross
Chapter 3 0535, local time, Great Fox mother ship, en route to Corneria An alarm was sounding through the halls of the Great Fox, Star Fox’s mother ship and home. After being summoned by General Pepper, the Star Fox mercenary team was heading to Corneria at double flank speed. They had gotten their flight suits on, and were racing down the corridor that leaded to the Great Fox’s main hangar, where the Arwings were kept. While they were running, Rob64 was feeding the team with updates of their position and the status of the Venomian assault through the PA system. By now, the assault’s first wave was attacking Corneria city, and was quickly clearing the way for the dropships that would put the Venomian divisions on the ground. The Great Fox was approaching Cornerian airspace very fast, as the Great Fox was a light class carrier (dreadnaught to be exact) and had three warp drive capital ship class plasma engines. They ran off of the energy of the electrons in the matter around the engines, resulting in a wake of destabilized particles following the mother ship. (Author’s Note: I know, I know! There isn’t any matter in space. Duh. But in the Lylat System there is. How do you think the space fighters can maneuver in space?)
~~~~~~ 0534, local time, Corneria City “Bombardier, bombs away!” cried the lead pilot of the first wave of bombers, “Venomian bombers, we are over the target! Open fire!” The sky over the capital city of Corneria turned red as the first five squadrons of Venomian bombers dropped a variety of ordinance over the populated area. In an instant, the business district of the largest free city in Lylat was rubble. Out of ammo, the bombers peeled away from their bombing runs and started the twenty minute trip to their carrier. The Venomian shuttles had already dropped many gun turrets on the roads of Corneria City to deter any ground or air reinforcements of the besieged city. There were no Venomian soldiers on the battlefield yet, but the one division of the Cornerian Militia was fighting valiantly. They engaged several of the automated turrets, disarming many of them, and then manning them to attack the Venomian Aircraft overhead. They were doing very good; shooting down about a plane a minute. That is, they were doing good until Chaos Squadron sighted them. “Hehehe… Looks like the ‘Home Guard’ is trying to stop us. Shall we?” inquired Miles, the youngest member of the squadron. “I don’t see why not. Chaos Squad! Arm your hard points with anti-personnel scatter bombs,” ordered Shadow, “and we’ll do one pass with those. We can clean up with our regular lasers, so warm them up.” “Yay! ‘Bout time we see some action,” cheered Rouge as she carried out the arming orders. “Hmph. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. One without water,” added Espio. The deadly group of fighters engaged the boost and swooped low over the crowd of Cornerian soldiers. They dropped the rather small bombs, which broke open and spread sharp metal all over the battle field, shredding many a Cornerian body. The fighters pulled up sharply, and fishtailed to bring their guns to bear on the few remaining soldiers. The violent turn engaged the G-Diffusers, which in turn caused the crystals inside each plane to activate, rendering the aircraft invisible temporarily. One bold soldier who had escaped the cluster bombs ran over to an anti-air gun. He was going to sacrifice himself to destroy a few of the fighters who had killed so many of his friends. You can imagine his surprise when he brought the gun to bear on…nothing! The fighters had disappeared! He breathed a sigh of relief thinking that they had flown away. About that time, Chaos Squadron opened fire. The poor soldier didn’t have time to scream. In the few minutes the attack had been going on, the capital’s business district had been leveled, the entire Cornerian Militia on active duty had been killed, many roads were blocked with turrets or debris, and Corneria had lost all contact with whole outside world. In his air raid shelter, General Pepper could only hope that his message had reached Star Fox.
~~~~~~ 0555, local time, Venomian High Command, Venom Andross had just gotten the first reports of the action in Corneria. And the best part (at least for his slaves, who suffered at his anger) was that he liked them. Yes, the Emperor seemed to think that the attack was going just fine. The Cornerians had lost all of their ground defenses, and they had no air defense. Yes, soon the entire Lylat System would soon be under his control. However, the Emperor didn’t seem pay any attention to a report of “four unidentified fighters, followed by a much larger ship” entering the war zone. He would have looked into these reports more carefully if he knew that these ships would prove to be the undoing of his invasion. Let’s go back about fifteen minutes to see how these ships entered the melee.
~~~~~~ 0540, local time, Great Fox, in Cornerian Airspace The four ace pilots of Star Fox had just got into their Arwings and were preparing to take off. Fox issued the order to begin takeoff sequence. “Pilots, prepare for take off!” The hangar hummed with energy as the Space Dynamics plasma engines hummed to life. Rob64 lowered the boarding platform, and gave the final countdown. “Arwing launch imminent. 5…4…3…2…1…” And with that, four blazes of blue and white shot from the hangar below the Great Fox. Their ETA to Corneria City was ten minutes. Three minutes into their flight, this was heard from Slippy: “Hey guys, what are those big ships over there?” The Arwings had missed the VSS Chaotix, but they had run into the dropships of the second wave. The second wave of fighters was already on their way to the battle, the dropships had been spotted by Star Fox, and the bomber had been delayed. Peppy answered Slippy, “Rob64 said that the Venomian Space Navy was attacking in three waves. Those must be from the second wave. They look like dropships.” A sudden feeling of dread came over Peppy, as it did the other members of the Squadron, because the dropships were the most important part of the attack. “Fox, we gotta get those now! They have the Venomian ground forces in those. If they can land those troops on the ground, they will take Corneria City and there won’t be a @#%#*@ thing we can do about it!” foretold Falco. “They don’t seem to have an escort. The fighter element must be up ahead. I say this is a prime target,” stated Peppy. “Men, arm your lasers. We have to have a 100% kill rate on these,” ordered Fox, even though the other members had already armed their weapons and were moving in to attack. The four Arwings sped over to the dropships and started to rake the bodies with fire. There were twelve dropships in all. Fox attacked the lead element. The dropships had no defensive armaments, so they just had to sit and bear the attack. “My shots aren’t going through!” cried Falco, frustrated over the thick armor on the dropships. Peppy flew in front of a dropship, and fired a nova bomb into the cockpit. The glass shattered, and the pilots were spaced. Peppy raked the inside of the ship with laser fire, and soon the dropship was ablaze and falling behind the others. “Fire a bomb into the cockpit! Then shoot inside the ship. That’s the only way!” observed Peppy. Soon, all twelve dropships were neutralized, and the main threat to Corneria had been destroyed. Each Arwing was down to three nova bombs, because they only carried six bombs per ship. The Arwings made haste to Corneria City. Soon, the Star Fox team was over the ocean heading to Corneria City. They saw the fighters of the second wave ahead. After they did one final systems check, they were ready for battle. “I see ‘em up ahead! Let’s rock and roll!”
“Where are those dropships? We’re running out of fuel and can’t loiter much longer.” -A Venomian pilot with orders to escort the dropships
Chapter 4 0545, local time, Corneria City The second wave of Venomian Fighters had just arrived in Corneria City. The Bombers had just been launched. There were, however, no witnesses to the destruction of the dropships, so every Venomian pilot was wondering the same thing: “Where the heck are our dropships?!?” exploded Shadow to no one in particular. “They were supposed to be here five minutes ago! Without them, the invasion can’t go on.” “I know,” agreed Espio, “We’re stuck with no targets until they arrive. And the bombers just got released, so they won’t be here for another half hour!” “For now, we just have to wait,” sighed Rouge. “This is soooooo boring! I want something to shoot,” whined Miles. The radio crackled. “Attention all Venomian fighters not currently engaged. Our coastal defenses have just sent in an SOS. We don’t know what is causing it, but they are disappearing from radar left and right. Help ‘em out!” Rouge wondered out loud, “Wonder what got ‘em?” Shadow was quick to answer, “It doesn’t matter. We have to take a look.” The radio again came to life, but this time, it was on Chaos Squadron’s personal channel. “Chaos Squad, your mission has been completed. Return to your ship, immediately.” Shadow went through all the formalities, but after disconnecting the radio, he gave the radio a good cussing. He, like the other members of Chaos Squad, were born to fight. Sort of like the pilots of Star Fox, who were causing a good deal of trouble to the Venomian forces about now.
~~~~~~ 0546, local time, Cornerian Coast The Star Fox team was getting closer to the beaches just outside of Corneria City, at one time the most popular vacation destination in Corneria. However, Venom had changed that. The golden sands of the Cornerian Coast were now filled with Venomian gun turrets and radar arrays. The fighters summoned to the coastal areas were just arriving. Many flew out into the fog over the ocean to try to find what destroyed the units. The bright blue lasers of four Arwings quickly answered them. Once the Venomians realized that Star Fox was the cause of their troubles, they dispatched a pursuit squadron against them. Most of the squad got shot down, but one was able to get on Slippy’s tail: “Help me Fox!” “I’m on it, just hold on!” Fox dispatched the fighter, and Slippy got off with minimal damage. “Thanks Fox.” “No problem. Wait. What are those things on this beach?” asked Fox. “They look like rocket, artillery, and anti-air missiles,” replied Falco, who had keen eyesight and a good knowledge of military tactics. “The ideal defense against a sea or air invasion. We need to get rid of those. The missiles alone will tear an Arwing apart.” “Fine. You hold back. I’m going to attack from their flank, low and slow,” planned Fox. Fox flew way out to the right of the beach defenses, and armed two EMP missiles on his wings. He fired the missiles at the beach, eliminating any threat from the missiles. The electro-magnetic pulse would stop any electronics on the beach from working for a half hour, easily long enough to clean up. “It’s clear,” radioed Fox, “Come on guys, let’s clean up this beach!” The four Arwings went on to destroy every gun emplacement on the beach. They did three passes with hyper lasers, and turned the guns into scrap metal. “Corneria City is right through this canyon,” said Fox, looking towards a large ravine. “I just hope we aren’t too late,” added Peppy
~~~~~~ 0550, local time, VSS Chaotix, in orbit around Corneria “The Dropships are what!?!?!” Screamed Adm. Kaita, “You realize that losing those ships and the two divisions means that we have failed the mission of taking Corneria City! We can’t carry out our battle plan now! Tell me, how do you take a city with fighers, bombers, a giant mech, and an assault ship? “Ummm…You can’t sir, however you can keep a city under siege until they surrender,” replied the commander of dropship operations. He wouldn’t be in command for long. “You must not realize that Cornerians are like us; they don’t give up when their homeland is at stake,” responded an angry Kaita. “A siege plan will not work. Andross will not like this, especially since those two divisions were the best Venom had. They didn’t even get on the ground. Why didn’t those dropships have an escort?” “Sir, the fighter wave released before the dropships would scare away any attackers, or at least in my logic they would,” answered an increasingly nervous commander. “Those waves had their own orders. They weren’t supposed to babysit your dropships. Bah! Enough with this! Lieutenant, get over here!” “Sir!” replied the lieutenant that was the Admiral’s aid. “Space this fool! I’ll appoint a new dropship commander,” sentenced a grim Kaita. “But sir, please, another chanc-” cried a desperate ex-commander “Sure. I’ll give you another chance. After you figure out how to breathe in space! Take him away,” finished the admiral. He then said to himself: “Andross will not like this at all…This could be it for us.”
~~~~~~ 0551, local time, Corneria City outskirts Star Fox encountered a few fighters in the canyon, but nothing to cause any trouble. They turned a bend and got their first glimpse of the burning, destroyed city. When he first saw the city, Falco said: “Dear God, what happened?!? It’s all gone!”
